The engine is almost done…but they either had to move the engine back 3 inches or rebuild our stairs. So in 1 day, the mechanic moved the engine and reattached all the hoses. Now that it fits….we have to wait for a mixing elbow (a shorter one) from Vancouver. We couldn’t fathom yet another weekend in the boatyard, so we planned a trip to Dave’s brother’s place in Metchosin. Plus we had to get the mini moho back to Victoria anyways. They promise that Monday will be splash day, so we will return then. Thanks to my great friend, Sharon, we will be driven back to Nanaimo- lock, stock and dog!
We got a thumbs up to take off and off we went. It was good to get out of the yard and away from the dirt, noise, and anxiety of waiting. The only stop we had was for lunch and otherwise the trip was uneventful. Not even tons of traffic. Once we got to Nick and Aleda’s, we got the moho situated in a nice quiet spot behind the wood shed and noticed right away how quiet and cool it was.
It is a pleasure to wake up to beautiful foliage and birds singing. We even kept all our windows open and enjoyed to refreshing breeze coming through all night. We did a few necessary errands and even got a much needed pedicure each. Scrub all the boatyard dirt off the bottom of our feet. It’s relaxing to sit and chat with family and friends.
Charlie even got hours of entertainment out of watching the goldfish- with only one pot of plants knocked over in his excitement.
Today I am packing up and cleaning the moho while Dave and his brother have gone to the Sooke car show. After the cleaning and packing I will get in some reading and relaxing. I think I’ve read about 10 books since being pulled out- thank goodness for my Kobo and Kindle. I carry thousands of books with me but they don’t take up much space.
Back to Nanaimo tomorrow and Dakota. We are crossing our fingers for splash day- then the huge clean up of the boat. Then we head North to Desolation Sound.
Cheers and hope to see everyone out sailing soon.
Well you had quite the entry into boat home ownership. Not to mention the start of your summer. I’m with you on the digital library part. Mine is on an iPad but….don’t leave home without it👍🤪
Here’s hoping that there’s clear sailing ahead.
